about

earliest tape known of the floodlight collective, quite the odd funk jam... the other stuff changed a bit slower, it did, than, i remember, yep, i do...

some 18 and 19 year olds out in mayretta... well, one of us lived more in atlanta, and one of lived on like the border of kennesaw...

we'd meet at the waffle house on the up on ridgeway and the coffee shop caller courmier on mill street at the square

autumn of 2001 practice tape house showish situation

several (a handfull of) friends in attendance. at brad's and his dad's old house at the end of burnt hickory near kennesaw mountain in georgia.

the bass wah in the middle is a bit much, i (paul) think i thought i was like bootsy collins, cliff burton, and like peter hook all at the same time... i was like 18, the drums sound cool, i wrote a guitar part for this too... we were just trying to rock out like kids do...

paul and brad work on parts of a song that was eventually performed at the first floodlight collective show (flyer by bradford displayed here) later that year. patrick shows up late but starts to play guitar before we move on to different material...

also, this was one of the first parts of what was a piece of mine that we started to work on called location/dislocation. that mainly turned into a really long slower built up and stripped down droney series of pieces played at a show behind the coffee shop in atherton square park in marietta that resulted in a modification of the noise ordinance being enacted on the marietta square area and downtown marietta in general thanks to the owners of a jimmy buffett themed bar that was at the other end of the alleyway in which we were performing... yep... first take after like two false starts and some shakers...

i know this was weird. but it is honest and natural weird. these things happen...
